Well, after doing a great deal of research and checking out the testimonials right here and elsewhere, I decided to purchase Laser Genetics Rifle Scope Mounted Laser Designator with Two Mounts. Though I 'd have liked a much better guarantee, I chose the features were attractive enough to try it. It is a bunch of cash to discard if it fails just after the warranty. I am absolutely in love with this product. It is high quality item, smart features. I just got it today, and I will update my review later if needed.
Dies in Cool Weather
This sounds like a great hunting light:
- Bright green column
- Articulating mount (that can be adjusted to shine right where the scope is aimed)
- Binocular mounts included
- Scope mount (1" -- won't fit a 30mm diameter scope)
- Remote Pressure switch with Velcro mount
1) Only it doesn't work in cool weather.
It works inside where it is warm.
It may work OK at dusk in > 60 deg. weather.
But as soon as it cools down, the light dims to the point of barely being visible at 50 yrds. And it happens fast, too! Shooting out a window on a 50-60 degree night, it dimmed, then went out completely within 3 minutes.
Replacing the battery seemed like it worked. Took it outside and everything seemed fine -- for 2 minutes. Rabbits barely visible through the scope at 50 yards away ran from the light immediately (although never exposed to green light before). Then within a few seconds, the laser light had dimmed to such an...
Laser Genetics Rifle Scope Mounted Laser Designator with Two Mounts Description
The ND3 Laser Designator is a precision optical Lighting instrument using advanced green Laser technology. The patendted Rotary Optical Collimator allows full adjustment and control of beam diameter and intenstiy to focus light where you need it most. Rotating the collimator ring to minimum creates a bright micro beam of green laser light visible up to 3 miles. Rotating the collimator to more open setting provides plenty of illumination to light a trail at night or paint a target at up to 250 yards. Battery life allows you to handle any emergency with over 7 hours of continuous use. The ND3 Laser Designator uses patented technology to create true night vision and turns your scoped rifle into a night hunter. Combining a powerful eye safe green laser diode and a precision optical collimator, the ND3 pairs with your scope and allows you to cast a bright beam of green laser light to fully illuminate targets up to 250 yards away. The patented optical collimator allows for quick, one hand full range adjustment of beam diameter and light strength with just 180 degrees of rotation. You never have to take your eyes off the target or your hand off the trigger. High power green laser light reflect intensely off the eyes of animals allowing quick detection up to 250 yards. Why Green Light?
Green light is the most visible to the human eye (See Chart) and requires the least amount of eye adjustment at night. An eye that has adapted to daytime conditions generally has a maximum sensitivity around 555nm. Compared to the color red which optical spectrum is around 630 - 650nm our eye is closer to the Green region of the optical spectrum at 510 - 530nm.
Animal eyes are intensely illuminated by green laser light and clearly visible at extended distances when viewed through optics. For optimum night vision for hunting, pair the ND3 with a high quality variable power scope having a 40mm or larger objective lens providing maximum light transmission. The included ND3 mounting system for 1" tubes provides full adjustment for windage and elevation for scope alignment. Additional mounts for binocular, spotting scopes and weaver rails are included.

Most Underlined Buyer Review : Impressive device
I bought the ND3 for night time feral hog hunting with a .243 rifle and am very pleasantly surprised with its ability to sufficiently light targets for easy viewing through a Bushnell 3x9 42mm scope. I've tried it up to 100 yards, and could see well enough for an effective shot. It has been unusually warm in East Central Texas this fall so I haven't experienced the issue one reviewer noted with temperatures below 40 degrees. Overall, I am pleased with the device and was able to mount it on my scope and align it in just a few minutes.
