Well, after doing a bunch of research and reading the reviews here and somewhere else, I decided to purchase Gamo Hornet Air Rifle, .177 Caliber. Though I 'd have chosen a much better guarantee, I decided the features were appealing enough to try it. It is a bunch of money to toss away if it falls short just after the warranty. I am completely in love with this product. It is high quality item, wise attributes. I just got it today, and I will update my testimonial later if required.
Absolutely worth its price --- rifle performs excellent!
First --- before you do anything else --- THROW AWAY THE SCOPE!
Do not attempt to install this China made Junk Scope on this nicely made in Spain air rifle! (Use the scope for bird watching, spotting, but NEVER on any rifle)!
I give this rifle a 4.5 star rating. It is much lighter than most in its class due to the hollow plastic stock and the one detraction (the reason for not getting 5 stars) that the barrel is a lightweight thin-walled steel encapsulated in a thick plastic sleeve (rather than the standard thick solid steel barrel). However, this light weight makes it a joy to carry, since such air rifles cannot practically have slings.
I installed a 4X-40 fixed power Swift scope (after rejecting due to inaccuracy several 2x7 and 3x9 variable power made in China scopes). The 4X power is sufficient for this rifle's range and with this Swift scope (bought is on sale for $45) it now places 9 of 10 shots in a dime sized target at 30 feet (this is after...
